Fund a New Beginning
Leaving an abusive situation is the first courageous step. However, the journey to true independence is often filled with small but significant financial hurdles that can stand in the way of progress and self-sufficiency.
The Lexxus Smith New Beginnings Fund is designed to remove these barriers. It provides one-time grants to cover immediate, critical needs that empower a woman to move forward. These grants can fund items such as:
-
Gas to get to a crucial job interview
-
A professional haircut or a new pair of shoes for that interview
-
A winter coat for herself or her children
-
Urgently needed prescription medication or eyeglasses
-
A bus pass to secure reliable transportation
-
Fees for a GED test or a professional certification class
The Inspiration Behind the Fund
This fund is named in honor of Lexxus Smith, a courageous survivor whose story of resilience is a powerful reminder of the strength and determination it takes to break free. Her journey from abuse to a life of freedom and advocacy is the inspiration for this work. By overcoming her own obstacles, she now serves as a voice for other young women, showing them that a new beginning is possible.

Your gift to this fund directly empowers a woman to take the next critical step toward a safe and self-sufficient future.

The Valentine's Blessing Bag Project
Share a message of love and support with a survivor this Valentine's Day.
For most, Valentine's Day is a celebration of love. But for a woman in a domestic violence shelter, it can be one of the most painful and isolating days of the year—a stark reminder of the love she was denied.
Our Valentine's Blessing Bag Project is designed to reclaim this day for survivors. It turns a moment of potential sadness into an opportunity for hope and healing.
Each Blessing Bag is filled with essential personal care items and small comforts that provide dignity. It's more than a gift; it's a powerful message delivered on a difficult day: "You are worthy of true love. You are not forgotten. Your community supports you."
We collect monetary donations for this project throughout the year. As Valentine's Day approaches, we purchase the items and deliver the bags to shelters, ensuring every woman receives this tangible act of solidarity. Your contribution today helps us reach our goal and bring this vital message to every survivor in our care.
"Your generous gift will go a long way as we empower women to live a life free from abuse while letting them know they are not alone." — Rev. Dr. Sebrenna R. Whitlock, Founder
